Used Pump equipment

Pumps
Industrial pumps are machines that use suction or pressure to raise or move liquids and compress gases. Special Projects International offers a wide variety of used pumps from trusted and well-known designers/manufacturers including, but not limited to: Waukesha, Viking, Goulds, APV, Durco, Gast, Wilden, Sandpiper, Ampco, Moyno, ARO, Roots, Blackmer, Busch, Tri-Clover, Ingersoll-Rand, Bell-Gosset, Dean, Worthington, and more. The different types of pumps we offer are categorized and described below.

Centrifugal Pumps
Centrifugal pumps are a type of dynamic pump, and they are the most popular and commonly used type of pump for the transfer of fluids. Centrifugal pumps works by a rotating impeller that moves water or other fluids through use of centrifugal force. The fluid enters the pump impeller along or near the rotating axis and is accelerated by the impeller, flowing radially outward into a diffuser or volute chamber, from which it exits. Centrifugal pumps are popular because of their high flow rate capabilities, abrasive solution compatibility, mixing potential, and simple design. Centrifugal pumps are commonly used in water, sewage, agriculture, petroleum, and petrochemical pumping, but can be found in the majority of industrial processes.

Vertical Centrifugal Pumps
Vertical centrifugal pumps are single stage centrifugal pumps that are designed for vertical installation. Their suction and delivery are inline to provide a smooth flow of liquid through a system. In many applications, maintenance and cleaning is easier with a vertical centrifugal pump than with a horizontal centrifugal pump.

Positive Displacement Pumps
A positive displacement pump moves a fluid by repeatedly enclosing a fixed volume, with the aid of seals or valves, and moving it mechanically through the system. The pumping action is cyclic and can be moved by pistons, screws, gears, lobes, diaphragms, or vanes. Special Projects International offers several different types of positive displacement pumps that are categorized and described below.

Diaphragm Pumps
A diaphragm pump is a type of positive displacement pump that uses the combination of the reciprocating action of a rubber, thermoplastic, or Teflon diaphragm and suitable valves on either side of the diaphragm to pump a fluid. Diaphragm pumps deliver a hermetic seal between the drive mechanism and the compression chamber, allowing the pump to transfer, compress, and evacuate the medium without a lubricant. Special Projects International offers diaphragm pumps that have an electric motor drive or require a pneumatic air supply. Diaphragm pumps are commonly implemented in food, beverage, water treatment, pulp mills, metal fabrication, agricultural, and chemical industries.

Progressive Gravity Pumps
A progressive cavity pump consists of a metal rotor that rotates within an elastomer-lined or elastic stator. As the rotor rotates, it creates temporary chambers with the stator. Fluid is drawn into these chambers which ‘progress’ through the pump before being expelled through the discharge port. Progressive cavity pumps are designed to handle viscous fluids at high flow rates or in a process that requires high discharge pressure and a smooth flow.

Regenerative Turbine Pumps
Regenerative turbine pumps provide the flexible operation of centrifugal pumps and the high discharge pressure of positive displacement pumps. The impeller has vanes on both sides of the rim that rotate in a ring-like channel in the pump’s casing. As the fluid moves with the impeller, it is re-circled – or “regenerated” – back to the inside diameter of the impeller vanes where the process begins again. As each cycle occurs, the fluid velocity increases which can be converted into more pressure. These pumps are commonly used in the agriculture, construction, water/wastewater, and chemical industries.

Diaphragm Metering Pumps
Diaphragm metering pumps have the same action as a regular diaphragm pump, but they are designed to dispense precise amounts of fluids and measured flow control. Diaphragm metering pumps are capable of pumping a wide range of chemicals including acids, bases, corrosives, or viscous liquids and slurries. These pumps are often used to move small volumes of fluid because the focus of their design is precision and accuracy.

Gear Pumps
A gear pump uses the meshing of gears to pump fluid by displacement. Gear pumps are widely used in chemical processes to pump highly viscous fluids.

Hydraulic Power Units
Hydraulic power units are the main driving components of hydraulic systems. These machines are usually equipped with a motor, a reservoir, and a hydraulic pump. A hydraulic power unit uses multi-stage pressurization networks to move fluid. Hydraulic power units are commonly used to apply the hydraulic pressure needed to drive motors, cylinders, and other complementary parts of a given hydraulic system.

Hydraulic Pumps
A hydraulic pump is a mechanical source of power that converts mechanical energy into hydraulic energy. It generates flow with enough power to overcome pressure induced by the load at the pump outlet. When a hydraulic pump operates, it creates a vacuum at the pump inlet, which forces liquid from the reservoir into the inlet line to the pump and by mechanical action delivers this liquid to the pump outlet and forces it into the hydraulic system.

Vacuum Pumps
Vacuum pumps draw gas molecules from a sealed volume in order to leave behind a partial vacuum. Vacuum pumps are commonly used in air conditioning and refrigeration to remove air and non-condensables, such as water, from a system. Additionally, these pumps are found in the automotive, environmental, food/beverage, agricultural, electronics, and pulp and paper industries.

Drum Pumps
Drum pumps are pieces of equipment used to empty barrels, tanks, IBC’s, and drums, and are usually powered by an electric or pneumatic motor. The motor is at the top of the device, and the pumping element is located at the bottom. This design allows a drum to be emptied without tipping – reducing the risk of spills and operator injury.
